Ghalib says he has thousands of desires, each so intense it could take his last breath away. Many of his longings were fulfilled, but they still feel too few — there were always more.

Why should my killer fear? What will weigh on their conscience? The tears that flowed from my eyes throughout my life — that blood of the heart — that is on them. Ghalib speaks of lifelong suffering caused by an indifferent beloved.
